Our story

The Book Attic is Bethany Beach Books’ newest venture. The independent bookstore opened in downtown Bethany Beach in 1991 and has been a strong pillar of our community ever since. From handing out free books to children at various Halloween events throughout the county, to working with area schools, to donations for local raffles, and so much more, BBB has always loved helping in any way we could.

In 2020, our business expanded, with the opening of our second storefront in Selbyville. The Book Drop storefront sells a curated selection of new release books and houses operations of our book subscription service of the same name. After celebrating 10 years of our subscriptions, and 5 years of our newest storefront, a new way to help our community became clear: a used bookstore, in the space just above The Book Drop.

In May 2025, The Book Attic opened! A labor of love from our team, it features used books for readers of all ages and interests. More than that, it’s growing into an important community space. At the end of every month, a portion of sales are donated to a different local charity or organization. BBB is so excited to be able to help our neighbors with these efforts. The Book Attic also hosts book clubs, collaborative events with local artisans and businesses, and so much more!
